Last week the third Cross Visit of the Agrispin project was held in the Basque Country, Spain. The visit organized by HAZI gave the occasion to 9 of the members of Agrispin to analyse four agricultural innovation cases:

  • ITERA-AA: product diversification and marketing in a dairy farm. The farmer took advantage of the proximity of a big city to sell the milk in vending machines and obtain a higher price.
  • Karabeleko: agroecological experimental farm working on social therapy, born and developed through the collaboration of three diverse organisations.
  • Seedcapital: use of the rapeseed for biofuel and animal feed to reduce the environmental impact and the dependence from the import of feed.
  • Geopos: geolocalisation of livestock via satellite for extensive livestock production in the Basque mountains.

Based on the four visits, the consortium analysed the Basque agricultural innovation system and process, presenting its conclusions in the seminar held the 30th October in the headquarters of HAZI in Arkaute. The seminar was the occasion to complete the picture with the knowledge and points of view of the different actors from the Basque Country.

All participants were satisfied and the discussions were very fruitful both for the members of the consortium as well as for the regional actors.
